Who is Mary Claire Haver?
Mary Claire Haver, MD, is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, author and founder of The Pause Life. After years in clinical practice, she became one of the best-known voices helping women understand perimenopause and menopause.
What she saw first
Haver saw women in her own practice, and eventually herself, going through menopause with symptoms nobody had prepared them for and doctors who often had little time or training to help. Women were being told it was “just aging,” or to eat less.
She set out to close that gap, explaining the science of menopause in plain language and giving women the questions to bring to their doctors.
What the science shows now
Menopause care is finally getting attention. The Menopause Society’s 2022 position statement says hormone therapy is the most effective option for hot flashes and night sweats and helps prevent bone loss, with the right choice depending on each woman’s age, timing and health history. Haver’s books have put that kind of information into millions of hands.
