The Fact

Among private-industry workers in March 2025, 78% of full-time workers had access to defined-contribution retirement plans versus 43% of part-time workers. Healthcare access was 87% for full-time workers and 27% for part-time workers. Paid sick-leave access was 88% versus 56%.

What This Means

A part-time job is not merely fewer paid hours. In the current labor market it can also come with much lower access to the benefits that protect household finances when people get sick, need medical care, or retire.
