The Fact

Philosopher Miranda Fricker introduced “epistemic injustice” for wrongs done to people specifically in their capacity as knowers. Her framework distinguishes testimonial injustice and hermeneutical injustice.

What This Means

A person can be harmed not only by being denied resources or rights, but by being unfairly denied credibility or access to the concepts needed to make an experience intelligible.
