The Fact

In a Pew Research Center survey of adults living in multigenerational households, 57% of adults ages 25–39 who lived with a parent said finances were a major reason for the living arrangement.

What This Means

For many young adults living with parents, the arrangement is not adequately described as a simple lifestyle preference. Financial conditions are explicitly part of the reason.
