The Fact

Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism contain explicit teachings that interrupt retaliation. Jesus commands forgiveness; Qur’an 24:22 tells believers to pardon and overlook; and Dhammapada verse 5 says hatred is not ended by hatred but by non-hatred.

What This Means

The doctrines are not identical, but all three recognize the same social mechanism: returning injury with injury can perpetuate conflict, while forgiveness or non-retaliation can stop the cycle.
