The Fact

In a 2006 study of financial relationships among DSM-IV and DSM-IV-TR panel members, every member of the Mood Disorders Work Group (8 of 8) and every member of the Schizophrenia and Other Psychotic Disorders Work Group (7 of 7) had a documented financial tie to a pharmaceutical company.

What This Means

The highest concentration of pharmaceutical-industry financial relationships occurred in diagnostic areas where medications were major treatment tools.
The same study also reported financial ties among 81.3% of Anxiety Disorders panel members, 83.3% of Eating Disorders panel members, and 83.3% of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder panel members.
