KFF's 2025 Employer Health Benefits Survey found that the average annual premium for employer-sponsored family health coverage was $26,993. The average annual premium for single coverage was $9,325.
What This Means
Health insurance attached to a job represents a major part of the cost of employing and supporting a family, even when the worker does not personally pay the entire premium. Looking only at take-home wages misses a large and growing part of the economic machinery surrounding work.
