The Fact

A 2013 national survey of 510 obstetrics and gynecology residents — the doctors in training who will become women’s specialists — found that only about 20% reported their program had a formal menopause curriculum. About 70% said they wanted more training in menopause.

What This Means

Most of the doctors being trained to care for women were not being formally taught about a stage every woman who lives long enough will go through. And they knew it — most of them asked for more.
