Food-at-Home Prices Rose About 21% From 2022 Through 2025

The Fact

USDA's Economic Research Service reports grocery (food-at-home) price increases of 11.4% in 2022, 5.0% in 2023, 1.2% in 2024, and 2.3% in 2025. Compounded, that is about a 21% increase over the four years. Retail egg prices rose 21.9% in 2025 alone.

What This Means

A grocery bill that was $200 a week at the start of 2022 would be about $242 a week by the end of 2025 for the same food.

Why It Matters

Food is a cost you cannot skip, so grocery inflation hits every household's budget first.
