AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving reported that one in five family caregivers said they could not afford basic needs such as food in 2025.

What This Means

For a meaningful share of caregivers, family support is occurring inside already-constrained household budgets. That makes caregiving part of the affordability equation, not a separate social issue.
