The Fact

Christian and Islamic source texts both make material care for vulnerable people part of righteous conduct. In Matthew 25, Jesus identifies feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, and caring for people in need with service to him. Qur’an 2:177 defines righteousness partly through giving wealth to relatives, orphans, the needy, travelers, and those who ask for help.

What This Means

The religions differ on major doctrines, but both place concrete help for vulnerable people inside the moral life—not merely private belief.
