The Fact

The Bureau of Labor Statistics counted 7.4 million workers who were displaced from jobs they had held for at least three years during January 2023 through December 2025. That was 1.2 million more long-tenured displaced workers than in the prior three-year survey period.

What This Means

Long-tenured job loss is not a niche experience. Millions of workers lost established jobs in a three-year window, and the count increased from the preceding survey period.
