The Fact

Among long-tenured workers displaced during 2023–2025, 22.9% were displaced because there was insufficient work for them to do.

What This Means

Not every established job ended because the workplace closed or the position was formally abolished. Nearly a quarter of these long-tenured displacements occurred because the employer no longer had enough work to sustain the job.
